Hoodia Gordonii diet pills were a big hit in the early 2000s. The attraction to these pills fell off a cliff when the Food and Drug Administration released a report stating that many forms of commercial Hoodia pills were actually pills using fake Hoodia Gordonii. As you can imagine, Hoodia immediately lost it’s cache as a credible diet pill.

Hoodia Gordonii is a succulent plant within the cactus family. Is is native to the Kalahari Desert in the southern part of Africa. Researchers began to notice that the nomadic peoples in this area ate the stem of the Hoodia plant to ward off hunger during long trips from home. Locally, the Hoodia plant is known as ‘Xhoba’.

Before being fully developed, the Hoodia plant needs a minimum of 4 to 6 years to mature. The plant can only be harvested after reaching maturity. Once Hoodia became well known as a diet aid, the amount Hoodia Gordonii available could not meet demand. At this point some crooked people began to develop and market fake Hoodia in hopes that no one would notice their misdeeds.

Authentic Hoodia Gordonii can help to control the food cravings that are so troublesome in dieting. One of the biggest hurdles in losing weight is actually gaining control of our eating habits. To date, Hoodia Gordonii is the strongest natural appetite suppressant in the world. Hoodia sounds like a very promising weight loss/diet management tool.

However be aware that reports are emerging that claim that you cannot expect to achieve results if you consume less than 800 mg of pure Hoodia every day. Unfortunately, at levels exceeding 800 mg of Hoodia there might be an increased likelihood of side effects such as constipation. Other side effects include headache, racing heart rate and stomach upset.

Like most other diet products, taking Hoodia Gordonii alone will not make you lose any weight. However, this all natural appetite suppressant can help you control your food cravings which often destroy all but the most motivated dieters and the best planned diet regimes. You still need to eat a healthy diet including much fruit and vegetables and exercise regularly to get the full benefits from any weight loss program.

If you are the type of person who feels constantly hungry while on a diet, then Hoodia Gordonii might just be an appropriate weight loss tool for you. Remember only buy Hoodia diet pills from reputable dealers or health food stores so that you can be assured that you are buying genuine Hoodia.
